President William Ruto has reiterated his resolve to work with leaders across the political divide in steering Kenya towards economic transformation and prosperity.
Speaking at State House during a meeting with leaders from the Gusii region, the Head of State assured that the priorities of his government would not change from the areas of agriculture, health, education, and job-creating initiatives through which he pledged to create at least one million jobs in the next one year.
The president urged the political leaders not to do petty politics but to partner for the development of their regions. The president stated that the economic stability they had achieved would make it easier to embark on ambitious projects such as the expansion of universal healthcare through the digitisation of procedures at the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), as well as the education sector through an increase in university programs by two-fold.
ODM leader, Raila Odinga, praised the Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza administration for the commitment to national transformation, ignoring the criticism from the opposition, saying that the government has the people’s support and would last its full term.
Chairman of the Gusii Development Committee, who is also the Member of Parliament representing South Mugirango Constituency, Simon Ogari stated that the leaders in the Nyanza region and the government at the center would be working closely together to accomplish the agenda of the area faster.
This was the second meeting between President Ruto and Gusii leaders at State House within a month, coming just days before his planned development tour of Gusiiland.
