The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has mourned the death of Kirinyaga County Assembly Member Beatrice Njoki Mitaru, who passed away while receiving treatment at Outspan Hospital in Nyeri.

Mitaru was a specially elected MCA representing persons with disabilities in the Kirinyaga County Assembly.

In a condolence message issued by UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar Hassan, the party described Mitaru as a dedicated public servant who made significant contributions to the welfare and inclusion of persons with disabilities.

“Her passing is a great loss to her family, the people of Kirinyaga, the disability community, and the nation at large,” Hassan said.

Mitaru also served as chairperson of the Persons with Disabilities Chapter within the County Assemblies Forum (CAF), where she championed the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities. UDA said her leadership extended beyond her role in the Kirinyaga County Assembly, noting that she was committed to advancing inclusion and improving the lives of people living with disabilities.

The party described the late MCA as a courageous legislator and humble leader whose public service was guided by integrity, compassion and a strong sense of duty. Hassan conveyed condolences on behalf of the UDA leadership to Mitaru’s family, friends, colleagues and the people of Kirinyaga.

“May the Almighty God grant you strength, comfort, peace, and courage as you come to terms with this painful loss. May the soul of Hon. Beatrice Njoki Mitaru rest in eternal peace,” Hassan said.
