President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting evangelical work in the country, pledging Ksh10 million toward the construction of a Pastors Plaza in Narok County.
Speaking during a visit to the region on Sunday, the President responded to a request from local preachers, promising to fund the proposed “Mosiro Pastors Plaza.”
“There is a construction you want here — Mosiro Plaza for pastors. Since we cannot build a State Lodge, we will construct the plaza for pastors instead. I will look for Ksh10 million to kick-start the project. And if things get stuck, I’ll send my friends — Senators and governors — to assist,” said Ruto.
The pledge comes despite ongoing public scrutiny over the President’s financial support for religious institutions, and his own prior remarks cautioning against excessive political fundraising in churches.
During the event, President Ruto also defended the government’s broad-based unity strategy, saying it is in the country’s best interest.
“We are working hard to unite the people of Kenya. I am proud that Raila Odinga and I are working together to bring unity. We are unapologetic and unashamed about uniting Kenyans,” he stated.
