Okutoyi Shines in Germany to Claim Fourth 2025 Doubles Title

African Games singles champion Angella Okutoyi secured her fourth doubles title of the year after winning the W50 Aschaffenburg tournament in Germany on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Partnering with American Rasheeda McAdoo, the duo triumphed on the clay courts of Schönbusch Aschaffenburg e.V., rallying from a set down to defeat Germany’s Laura Boehner and Switzerland’s Chelsea Fontenel 1-6, 6-2, 10-7 in a gripping final that lasted 1 hour and 19 minutes.

The victory earned Okutoyi and McAdoo 50 WTA ranking points each and a shared cash prize of KSh297,202 (USD 2,295).

The runners-up took home 33 points each and split KSh151,256 (USD 1,168).

Their campaign began with a walkover win in the opening round against Americans Alexis Blokhina and Madison Sieg.

In the quarters, they eased past Michaela Bayerlova (Czech Republic) and Daria Kuczer (Poland) 6-1, 6-4, before demolishing Denislava Glushkova (Bulgaria) and Manca Pislak (Slovenia) 6-0, 6-2 in the semis.

This is the pair’s second title together, having won the W50 Troisdorf event in Germany in June by defeating Josy Daems (Germany) and Anastasiia Firman (Ukraine).

For Okutoyi, it marks yet another milestone in a standout year. The Kenyan star previously won the W35 Nairobi 2 with Burundian Sada Nahimana in January and the W15 Madrid alongside Italian Sofia Rocchetti in June.

She also claimed singles gold and doubles silver at the 2024 African Games in Accra, Ghana.
