Faith Kaberia, a prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) in Busia, was honored as the Gender Prosecutor of the Year during the inaugural Changemakers Gala Awards 2024 held at Emara Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi.
The prestigious awards recognized outstanding individuals contributing to the fight against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Kenya.
Sharon Koina from ODPP Narok and Thomas Mwaura from ODPP Loitoktok were named the first and second runners-up, respectively, for their commendable efforts in championing justice for SGBV survivors.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Jacinta Nyamosi, Deputy Director of the Conventional and Related Crimes Department, represented the Director of Public Prosecutions.
She emphasized the critical role of justice actors in addressing SGBV and ensuring survivors receive the justice they deserve.
Organized by the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) in partnership with Equality Now, the Changemakers Gala Awards spotlighted the dedication of legal professionals working to combat SGBV and protect vulnerable groups across the country.
The awards ceremony marked a significant step in acknowledging and encouraging sustained efforts to address the challenges faced by SGBV survivors in accessing justice.
