Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has boldly claimed that his political opponents are plotting to remove him from office and replace him with a “puppet.”
Speaking at Marikiti Market in Nairobi, Gachagua expressed his defiance against what he describes as intimidation tactics aimed at undermining his leadership.
“They’re threatening me that they will mobilize MPs to kick me out and install their puppet,” Gachagua stated, challenging his adversaries to confront him directly rather than engaging in backroom political maneuvering. “Kama unataka kupigana na mimi, kuja hapa ground. Mambo ya hoteli muache,” he urged, translating to, “If you want to fight me, come to the ground. Leave the hotel politics behind.” he said.
Gachagua underscored his commitment to the people of Kenya, warning that the current political climate could be detrimental to the nation’s future.
“Kenya is ours, and the type of politics being introduced will ruin this country,” he asserted.
Reiterating his electoral legitimacy, Gachagua emphasized that he was elected by the Kenyan people, not by Members of Parliament seeking to intimidate him.
“I was elected by Kenyans, and only Kenyans can decide whether I go home,” he declared.

Gachagua also voiced strong support for local traders, promising, “Siwezi kubali mupate shida watu wa Marikiti,” or “I will not allow the people of Marikiti to face difficulties.”
He assured them that the government remains committed to protecting their interests amid the ongoing political turmoil.
