A Trans Nzoia family’s 10-year-old son, John Wanjala, missing since January 2024, was found alive in April 2025 at a Kiminini children’s home-months after they buried a decomposing boy from River Nzoia they believed was him.
The family buried an unidentified, decomposed body in June 2024 after failed searches, despite the mother’s persistent doubts.
Precious Kids Children’s Home alerted local authorities after the boy identified his origin. His mother recognised him instantly, leading to an emotional reunion.
Courts ordered the exhumation of the buried remains on April 24, 2025, for DNA analysis to confirm identity.
The family plans a public event to celebrate his return
