A man identified as Ronald is reportedly recovering from injuries after being assaulted by President William Ruto’s security detail in Bomet County.

The incident occurred when Ronald allegedly sang the popular “Kasongo” song as the President’s motorcade passed, an act perceived as mocking the Head of State.

In response, Ruto’s bodyguards confronted and physically assaulted him, leaving his face nearly disfigured. This event has sparked discussions about the conduct of presidential security personnel and the boundaries of freedom of expression in Kenya.

The “Kasongo” song has recently been associated with satirical commentary directed at the President, leading to heightened sensitivities.

Local authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.

Human rights organizations are calling for an investigation into the actions of the security team and urging respect for citizens’ rights to free expression.

This incident adds to a series of confrontations between citizens and security forces in the region, raising concerns about the escalation of tensions and the potential suppression of dissenting voices.
