Digital content creator Murugi Munyi has shared a bold vew on the anti panty movement that has caught up with most Kenyan women. In circulating posts on social media the ‘anti-panty advocate’ argued that women’s undergarments are not designed with women’s comfort in mind.
Murugi argued that the belief that women must wear panties is a belief that has been passed down unquestioned for generations. Murugi also alleged that women who wear panties are under bondage further asserting that they were lied to by their mothers and aunties that wearing undergarments is a must.
She stated, ‘“I AM AN ANTI-PANTY ADVOCATE I FEEL LIKE PANTIES WERE CREATED TO PUT WOMEN UNDER BONDAGE. PANTIES ARE USUALLY VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND WE WERE LIED TO BY OUR AUNTIES AND REMOTHERS THAT WEARING PANTIES IS A MUST”
Her sentiments caused mixed reactions with comments and remarks circulating on social media. Some women resonated with Murugi while others commented about women’s body health once they decide to go commando.
