Deputy President Kithure Kindiki visited Muthanthara in Mbeere North Constituency on Wednesday, using the revival of long-stalled road projects to connect with residents and rally support for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leo Wamuthende ahead of next week’s by-election.

Kindiki said the completion of the Kanyuambora–Siakago, Kanyuambora–Kamumu, and Rukuriri–Kanyuambora roads — projects that had been stalled for over eight years — demonstrates the Kenya Kwanza Government’s commitment to improving livelihoods at the grassroots.

“These roads had been left unfinished for years, but we have now completed them so people can move freely, farmers can get their produce to markets, and jobs can grow in our communities,” he said.

The Deputy President also revealed plans to upgrade the Ciangera–Irira–Kasee Road, which links Embu and Kitui counties, saying the move will boost trade and improve connectivity across the region.

Earlier in the day, Kindiki held a “heart-to-heart” session with residents of Muthanthara. In a show of support, community members endorsed Leo Wamuthende as their preferred candidate for the upcoming by-election. Many residents praised the government for reviving stalled projects and called for continued development in the area.

Kindiki urged voters to back leaders who will collaborate with the national government to deliver tangible projects. “This by-election is about choosing someone who will work with us to bring real change to Mbeere North,” he said.
