Police officers from Laare Police Station have arrested six suspects in connection with a gang rape case reported on Monday in Laare Town, Igembe North Sub-County.

The incident came to light after a distress call from members of the public alerted officers to a young woman in grave danger, allegedly being raped by a group of men participating in a traditional circumcision procession.

Responding immediately, officers arrived at the scene and found the victim deeply distressed, her clothes torn. She was quickly taken to Nyambene Hospital for medical care.

Committed to ensuring justice, police launched an extensive manhunt.

Guided by forensic leads, officers conducted targeted raids in the Irinde, Lubwa, and Kiarama areas, flushing out and arresting six suspects: Dennis Mwirigi, Ismael Gichuge, Elijah Muriki, Isaac Ntomauta, Joseph Marete, and Phineas Mutali.

The six join three other suspects who were arrested earlier on Monday. All nine are currently in custody as processing continues ahead of their arraignment.
