The Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary of Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi held talks with Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez in Santo Domingo.

In a statement from the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Kenya and the Dominican Republic have committed to strengthening diplomatic relations.

Following the high-level political consultations between the two countries, the leaders discussed key issues including trade, security and cultural exchange.

They also discussed the ongoing Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) in Haiti, which Kenya is leading.

They emphasized the need for greater international support for the Mission in Haiti to ensure its success.

A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding.

They include medical evacuation and logistical access for Kenyan troops in Haiti, and another on diplomatic training collaboration between their foreign service institutions.

"We appreciate the cooperation of the Dominican Republic in the MSS Mission for the greater good of humanity," said Prime Cabinet Secretary Mudavadi.
