Rapper Tory Lanez, currently serving a sentence for the 2020 shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion, was hospitalized after being attacked in a California prison, officials confirmed on Monday.

The artist, whose birth name is Daystar Peterson, was injured during an early morning incident at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, located roughly 70 miles north of Los Angeles. Authorities say the altercation involved another inmate.

Although officials have not released specific details regarding the extent of Peterson’s injuries, reports from entertainment outlet TMZ suggest the rapper was stabbed but is expected to recover.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation issued a statement confirming the incident, stating that the assault took place at approximately 7:20 a.m. in one of the prison’s housing units. Correctional staff acted quickly, providing first aid and calling emergency services. Peterson was later transferred to an outside medical facility for additional treatment.

An investigation into the attack is now underway, with prison officials working in coordination with the Kern County District Attorney’s Office to uncover what led to the violence.
