Jamaican dancehall star Konshens has come to the defense of fellow artist Shenseea after a fan criticized her for her brief and seemingly lackluster performance at Raha Fest in December 2024.
The fan took to social media, accusing Shenseea of showing little enthusiasm for her performance in Kenya. They pointed out that she only performed for ten minutes, didn’t post about her visit on social media, and allegedly refused to try local Kenyan dishes. Instead, the fan claimed she opted for fufu, which is not a Kenyan dish, instead of popular options like pilau.
“Her vibe was just off. She didn’t post on TikTok about being in Kenya, but posted about other countries. She didn’t eat local food, and instead ate fufu,” the fan wrote.
The fan further criticized Shenseea’s attitude, suggesting that Kenyans should focus on supporting local artists and international musicians who genuinely appreciate Kenya, such as Etana, Konshens, and Ya Levis.
“Kenyans should celebrate their own artists and support international artists who love Kenya, like Konshens, Etana, and Ya Levis, not those who act like they’re doing us a favor by being here,” the fan added.
In response, Konshens vehemently defended Shenseea, explaining that the singer had been forced to leave the stage due to a looming security risk. He chastised the critic for failing to understand the situation.
“Your comment alone reveals your mindset. You think she should have ignored the security assigned to her and risked her life? Do you believe being an artist makes her Wonder Woman?” Konshens wrote, highlighting the serious security concerns that led to her early exit.
Konshens also dismissed the claim that Shenseea didn’t care for Kenya, noting that she stayed in the country after the show, further disproving the fan’s narrative. He condemned the divisive remarks, urging the public to refrain from spreading misinformation.
The Raha Fest concert descended into chaos when Kenyans stormed the venue, causing Shenseea to cut her performance short after only ten minutes. The situation was further compounded by tense scenes at the venue, which eventually led to her departure.
