President William Ruto has officially opened the Accident and Emergency Wing at Wajir County Teaching and Referral Hospital, marking the government’s major milestone in strengthening healthcare delivery in Northern Kenya.
The new facility, which has just been commissioned, features a 12, bed ICU Unit, the latest orthopaedic, laparoscopic and general surgery theatres, as well as a state-of-the-art hospital ward equipped with centralised oxygen, compressed air and vacuum systems.
Speaking during the ongoing North Eastern tour in Wajir County, the President said that such a move would facilitate the access to quality health and availability of specialised medical services to marginalised zones and it’s a clear demonstration of government commitment.
“This state-of-the-art facility will significantly improve patient outcomes and expand access to specialised treatment for the people of Wajir and the wider Northern Kenya.” he stated
This modern centre is aimed at growing the emergency services, giving patient better services and diminishing cases of patients travelling long distances for treatment.
Ruto stated that expansion of health infrastructure is aligned with the government’s aims of making sure that all citizens get access to the essential services.
Located in Wajir County, the new wing aims at serving not only the inhabitants of Wajir County but also the Northern Kenya region at large. It’s a great help to the region’s capacity to provide critical and emergency medical care.
