Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has expressed strong confidence that President William Ruto will secure a second term in 2027, crediting the administration’s focus on inclusive development and national cohesion.
Speaking during the Shinyalu Economic Empowerment event held at Mukumu Grounds in Kakamega County, Kindiki said the Ruto-led government is determined to uplift all Kenyans regardless of tribe, region, or social class.
“We will continue to develop the country as our opponents engage in tribal politics and sideshows,” Kindiki said. “We are working hard to ensure that the development programs we have started are accomplished before 2027.”
He emphasized that President Ruto’s leadership is built on a development scorecard, not political rhetoric, and that Kenyans would evaluate the administration’s performance based on tangible projects.
Highlighting ongoing government initiatives in Kakamega County, Kindiki confirmed that the upgrade of Kakamega Referral Hospital to Level 6 is underway, with completion expected in six months. He also cited progress in affordable housing, last-mile electricity, youth talent development through the revamping of Bukhungu Stadium, and modern market projects across the county.
“Kakamega has received Sh2.5 billion under the last-mile power connection, targeting over 26,000 households,” he noted, adding that the goal is to ensure every home is connected to electricity.
The Deputy President also revealed that efforts to revive the sugar industry and restore the gold sector in the region are ongoing, with investor interest already secured.
He was joined at the event by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Governor Fernandes Barasa, and several MPs and government officials, signaling broad political support for the administration’s agenda.
Kindiki accused the opposition of focusing on ethnic divisions and gossip rather than real solutions for Kenyans. “Their work is to make noise from morning to evening, with no development agenda,” he stated.
