The National Police Service (NPS) Kenya has issued an update about the Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti.

In a statement on Friday, NPS said the MSS team in Haiti and the Haiti National Police (HNP) have scaled up joint operations in the Caribbean country, which are aimed at subduing the dangerous armed gangs, bringing normalcy in gang-controlled areas.

These areas include Port Au Prince Downtown, Ganthier and Delmas.

NPS said these joint patrols and operations have led to several arrests of the gang members and a return to normalcy in the once gang-ridden areas.

In September, MSS and HNP conducted clearance operations in Delmas, Bel-Air, Solino, and their environs to weed out the gangs.

The operations were conducted on sea, land, and air by clearing roads and streets to allow the normal flow of people and vehicles.

The operations came after the MMS received additional vehicles and equipment from the United States government.
