Kenya and Israel have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in the water, sanitation and irrigation sectors, with a renewed focus on technology and climate-smart solutions.
Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Eng. Eric Mugaa on Tuesday met the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Kenya, Gideon Behar, and his delegation at Maji House in Nairobi.
The talks focused on expanding the long-standing partnership between the two countries, especially in areas such as water management technology, wastewater treatment, and sustainable irrigation systems.
According to the ministry, the collaboration will prioritize technology transfer, industrial cooperation in water management, innovative waste-to-value approaches for wastewater, and climate-smart irrigation to support food security.
“Discussions centred on opportunities to further strengthen the long-standing cooperation between our two countries in the Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation sectors.
The partnership focuses on technology transfer, industrial symbiosis in water management, a waste-to-value approach for wastewater management, and climate-smart irrigation,” the statement read.
The partnership is expected to help Kenya improve access to clean water, enhance sanitation services, and boost agricultural productivity, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions.
Both sides expressed confidence that the strengthened cooperation will deliver practical solutions to water and food security challenges while supporting Kenya’s climate resilience goals.
