Police in Kiambu County are investigating the suspected murder of 19-year-old Sharon Atieno, also known as Nicole, whose mutilated body was discovered in a banana plantation in the Kiambaa area.
Sharon reportedly left her home in Thindigwa, Karuri, on Thursday evening around 10 p.m. to make a phone call and take a walk, leaving her roommate behind.
After repeated attempts to reach her through the night, friends raised concerns over her whereabouts.
The tragic discovery was made in Gachorwe village, Kiambaa, on the morning of Friday, November 8, 2024. Authorities have not yet determined the motive behind the murder, and Kiambaa Subcounty Police Commander Pius Mwathi stated that detectives are actively working on leads.
“Detectives are on the ground pursuing leads into the murder, and we hope to make arrests soon,” he said. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, 2024, to determine Sharon’s cause of death.
