President William Ruto has reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a favorable business environment and enhancing access to affordable credit for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The exhibition, themed Inua Biashara, provided a platform for SMEs to connect with financial institutions and explore available financial products that could aid in expanding their businesses.
Speaking at the Banking Industry Inua Biashara SME Exhibition at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, the President emphasized that these measures are key to boosting job creation, supporting livelihoods, and accelerating Kenya’s economic transformation.

“Our continued push for a healthier business environment and more targeted affordable credit will ensure that small enterprises scale up their operations. In turn, this will promote job creation, support more livelihoods, and energize our country’s economic transformation agenda,” President Ruto said.
The President challenged the banking sector to leverage technology in designing innovative credit products that cater to the specific needs of SMEs, which form a critical part of Kenya’s economy.
He underscored the role of financial institutions in driving economic growth by offering tailored solutions that enable small businesses to thrive.

“Technology should be at the heart of innovation in the banking sector. I urge banks to develop credit products that address the unique challenges faced by SMEs. By doing so, we can unlock the potential of these enterprises and help them grow,” President Ruto added.
The event brought together key players from the banking and finance sectors, along with SME owners, to showcase innovations and discuss strategies to bolster the sector.

The President’s call to action aligns with the government’s broader agenda of empowering SMEs as drivers of economic resilience and growth in Kenya.
