President William Ruto has announced the elimination of tariff and non-tariff barriers on agricultural produce and beef exports to Malaysia.

He noted that this significant step will expand Kenya’s export market to Malaysia and strengthen as well as open new market opportunities for Kenyan farmers.

“We reaffirmed our commitment to removing tariff and non-tariff barriers, expanding Kenyan exports to Malaysia, and deepening cooperation,” President Ruto said.

President Ruto made these remarks during a State Visit by His Excellency Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Malaysia, at State House, Nairobi.

The President urged comprehensive reforms to the global financial system as well as to the United Nations.

He called for transformative changes to make both institutions more effective and equitable.

He noted that with 54 countries and a population of 1.4 billion, it was unfair and undemocratic for Africa to remain excluded from the World’s top decision-making body.

President Ruto therefore asserted the necessity of two permanent African seats on the UN Security Council with full rights.

“Africa demands two permanent seats on the UN Security Council with full rights, including the power of veto, as well as two additional non-permanent seats,” President Ruto firmly said.

Additionally, Kenya and Malaysia exchanged views on regional peace, security, and multilateral cooperation.

The Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, called for more visionary and determined leaders.

He expressed his deep respect and appreciation for President Ruto’s courage and commitment to change.

“I must express my profound respect and appreciation for your unwavering determination. You are tough,” Anwar Ibrahim said.
