ICT and Digital Economy Principal Secretary John Tanui has joined leaders and residents of Samburu in celebrating the inauguration of the new Africa Inland Church (AIC) Samburu Region.

Tanui, who represented the Head of Public Service Felix Koskei alongside Devolution PS Lenasalon and Digital Health Agency CEO Anthony Lenaiyara, attended a church service, inauguration ceremony and fundraising event at AIC Maralal Cathedral.

The event brought together Samburu Governor Lati Lelelit, Senator Steve Lelegwe, MPs Naisula Lesuuda and other leaders, alongside church officials and members of the wider AIC fraternity.

Tanui said the occasion held personal significance, recalling how he benefited from AIC programmes while growing up in rural Kenya, including Sunday School, youth camps, fellowship and mentorship.

He commended AIC for its more than a century of service to communities, noting its contribution beyond evangelism to education, healthcare, mentorship, family life and community development, particularly in rural areas.

According to Tanui, the creation of the Samburu Region represents more than an administrative expansion, as it will bring pastoral care, fellowship, evangelism and community service closer to residents.

He congratulated AIC leadership and the people of Samburu on the milestone, reaffirming the Church’s role in strengthening communities and transforming lives.
