Renowned Kikuyu musician Karangu Muraya has apologised to Kenyans who were offended by his endorsement of the Social Health Authority (SHA).
Karangu said he was not paid by the government to champion and market the healthcare insurance scheme, stating that his public advocacy stemmed from a personal experience, as SHA had come through for his brother.
The singer faced massive backlash and bullying from naysayers of the scheme, who have resorted to name-calling through his social media comment section.

Taking to social media, after massive backlash, Karangu asked those offended by his sentiments to forgive him.
"Sometimes back, I mentioned about SHA just because it had paid some money for my brother who had a huge bill after having a road accident. I have been receiving hundreds of insults in my inbox just because of my sentiments. I was not paid to say so, but if my sentiments offended you, please find a place in your heart to forgive me," said Karangu.
The singer said their forgiveness will make his brother, who has been bedridden since February, recover.
