Kenya’s U17 girls’ national team, the Junior Starlets, ended their successful preparatory tour in Morocco with an impressive 2-0 victory over Morocco U17 in their second friendly match, played on Monday at the Mohammed VI Sports Complex.
The win followed a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the first match held on Thursday last week at the same venue.
These friendlies provided invaluable exposure and tactical sharpening as the team gears up for the final round of the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.
The first leg of the qualifier is set for April 20 at Nyayo Stadium, with the return leg scheduled for April 25 at Stade Olembe in Yaoundé.
The aggregate winner will secure a place in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.
Head Coach Mildred Cheche praised her squad following the two friendlies, highlighting their significance in preparing the team for the upcoming challenge.
“The Morocco friendlies were incredibly valuable for the team. They allowed us to assess our match fitness and gauge the quality of our players against a strong opponent.
