The Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, Dennis Itumbi, will on Monday, June 9, meet content creators over the betting promotion ban dispute.

This comes after the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB), in a notice dated May 29, banned the use of celebrities, influencers, and content creators from endorsing or promoting gambling.

The move was a big blow to the livelihoods of many content creators, and they have since come out to express their reservations about the ban.

Speaking to the press on the evening of Wednesday, June 4, the creators called on BCLB to suspend the ban as they engage in consultations to find an amicable solution to the controversy.

“We respectfully urge BCLB to suspend the ban and sit with us within 48 hours for discussions on this matter. We are more than happy to engage and negotiate as we hope for a suitable model that ensures responsible advertising via age-restriction content regulations,” the content creators said.

The meeting with Itumbi, who has President William Ruto’s ear, is seemingly aimed at resolving the matter and finding a solution that favors both parties.
