Huddah Monroe, the bold and often private Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur, recently shared a side of her life that few knew about. At just 19 years old, she got married—quietly, without the spotlight or social media fanfare. That marriage lasted four years, and though it stayed under wraps, it played a major role in shaping the woman she is today.

Why did she end it? According to Huddah, the relationship no longer aligned with her peace of mind. Her ex-husband struggled with drug addiction, and the situation eventually began to affect her well-being as well. Without children in the picture, she made the difficult but necessary decision to walk away.

What’s more, Huddah admits that during that time, she too fell into addiction. The relationship exposed her to substance use, and it wasn’t until her life shifted after appearing on Big Brother Africa that she decided to seek help and get clean.

Reflecting on it all, she doesn’t regret keeping that chapter of her life private. In her words, not everything needs to be put out for public consumption. Sometimes, true strength is found in silence, in healing, and in doing what’s best for yourself without needing validation.

Huddah’s story is a powerful reminder: choosing peace—even if it means letting go of something once meaningful—is a form of self-love. And you don’t owe the world an explanation for putting yourself first.
