Olympic javelin bronze medalist Anderson Peters is targeting a standout performance at this Saturday’s Kip Keino Classic at Ulinzi Sports Complex.
The Grenadian, who finished second at last year’s event with a throw of 85.72m, is eager to improve on that result in his return to the World Continental Tour Gold meet.
“Last year was exceptional—from the weather to the fans. I’m excited to see what the new venue brings,” said Peters upon arrival at JKIA on Monday.
The two-time world champion praised the Kenyan crowd for their energy and deep knowledge of the sport, adding, “Their passion was truly remarkable.”

Peters is also thrilled to compete alongside 2016 Olympic silver medalist Julius Yego, whom he calls an idol. “He paved the way for many of us, especially African athletes, with his performance in 2016,” he noted.
So far this season, the 27-year-old has podium finishes in all three of his appearances—winning in Grenada with 74.90m, placing third in Doha (85.64m), and again third in Poland with 83.24m.
