Former Murang’a gubernatorial aspirant Jamleck Kamau and a close ally to former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has announced that he is taking a break from active politics, citing reasons beyond his control.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 22, 2026, Kamau thanked his supporters for the backing they have accorded him throughout his political journey, assuring them that he will continue to engage and consult with them during his time away from frontline politics.
“Due to reasons beyond my control I have ,today 22nd Jan 2026 ,decided to take a break from active politics. I want to specifically thank all my supporters and assure you that I will continue engaging and consulting you as we move forward,”he posted on his social media pages.

He paid special tribute to the Gen Z demographic, whom he described as the backbone of society, expressing gratitude for their support and urging them to remain firm, fair and principled as they engage in national affairs.
Kamau noted that the decision was temporary and hinted at a possible return to active politics in the future, telling his supporters that he would be back soon.
He concluded his message by wishing Kenyans well and offering blessings to the country, saying he remains committed to the nation’s progress despite stepping back from active political engagement.
