Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made startling allegations against President William Ruto, claiming that he was offered billions of shillings to step down from his position during their time in office.
Speaking during an interview on Sunday, Gachagua alleged that Ruto tried to coerce him into resigning by labeling him a tribal leader.
“Ruto had promised me billions if I would have resigned. I declined because the position i served was awarded to me by the people who elected me into power ,Ruto even went as far as calling me tribal because of defending the people of mount Kenya ,” Gachagua revealed.

Political analysts argue that Gachagua’s remarks shed new light on the deteriorating relationship between the two leaders, who once campaigned together on the Kenya Kwanza ticket.
According to Gachagua, the alleged offer was part of a broader scheme to weaken his standing within the government and diminish his role in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“I refused to bow down to pressure or betray my people for personal gain. Leadership is about service, not money,” he added, reiterating his commitment to representing the interests of his supporters.
