Police have launched investigations into a break-in at St. Jonathan Primary and Secondary School in West Kanyamamba sub-location, Rongo, that left the school counting losses after thieves made away with valuable items.

According to area assistant chief George Omuono, the suspects broke into the school’s administration block, which serves both the primary and secondary sections, and stole six laptops.

The gang also took printed school uniforms and a gas cylinder from the primary section.

From the secondary side, a generator and a printer were stolen but later found abandoned within the school compound.

“Some form four students who went to check on their agriculture project discovered the break-in and reported it,” Omuono said.

No arrests have been made so far, but police say investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the culprits.

The incident comes just days after a similar theft was reported at Okenge Primary School in Nyatike sub-county, where eight laptops were stolen, raising concerns over the safety of learning institutions in the region.
