The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has issued official clarifications and rulings regarding promotion matters affecting clubs in the FKF Division Two Western Zone and the FKF Division One League.
Following a review by the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee, a decision has been reached in the case concerning the promotion of Lions FC, formerly operating under the name Chebaiywa FC, to the FKF Division One League.
After thorough deliberation, the Committee determined that the name change from Chebaiywa FC to Lions FC was not carried out in accordance with proper procedures and, therefore, cannot be recognized by the Federation.
Additionally, the Committee ruled that Lions FC’s promotion contravened the principle of sporting merit, emphasizing that promotion and relegation within FKF competitions must be strictly based on on-field performance.
As a result, the promotion of Lions FC has been nullified, and the FKF Competitions Department has been instructed to reinstate Chebaiywa FC in the official FKF Division One League fixtures.
