Kenyan actress and comedian Sandra Dacha has once again sparked social media conversations after she raised questions publicly concerning the rising cost of condoms in the country.
In a popular social media Facebook post, “Biggest Machine” asked why such an elementary product has turned out to be so expensive that it is out of reach for average Kenyans.
“Condoms are now too expensive in this country. How do we live?” she posted, which came with a flood of reactions from fans and fellow performers.
The majority of the netizens made light of the situation, responding with jokes, memes, and puns, while a few came to her defense, worrying that the high price will discourage safe sex, especially among young people.
Some of the fans commented that Dacha had only voiced out loud what many Kenyans were actually thinking. “She’s right, it’s basic health. Why should condoms be pricier than unga?” one fan wrote.
It is not the first time Sandra Dacha has trended on social media. Renowned for her candidness and unapologetic views, she has gained fame as a blunt speaker on issues of relationships, lifestyle, or even everyday problems life presents to Kenyans.
