A family in Laikipia is demanding justice after local chiefs are said to have beaten them during the burial of their kin who was killed by bandits in the middle of last year.

The family said the fight started after James Mogoi, the father of the deceased, refused to agree with the administrators on the burial site of his late son.

It is alleged that the dispute escalated into a physical altercation with the chiefs and some members of the public.

A medical report from Etago Sub-County Hospital indicates that Mogoi has suffered a traumatic injury to his left lower limb.

Besides, a valuation done by property valuer Duncan Njiri has revealed that the property worth Sh326,400 was vandalized during the incident, allegedly after the locals were incited by the chiefs.

The family has pleaded with the police to arrest and charge the culprits and they have blamed the local administrators for abusing their power and not protecting them during the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌burial.
