The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Tuesday convened a one-day Club Licensing Workshop in Nairobi, bringing together representatives from all FKF Premier League (FKF PL) clubs.
Opening the workshop, FKF General Secretary and CEO Harold Ndege emphasized the importance of the exercise, noting that the focus was on strengthening club structures and ensuring compliance with CAF and FIFA licensing regulations.
“Club licensing is more than a CAF or FIFA mandate — it’s a vital framework for promoting good governance, accountability, financial stability, and ultimately, a more robust football ecosystem. FKF remains committed to supporting clubs through this process not as a punitive measure, but as a partnership for growth,” said Ndege.
The workshop offered clubs a deeper understanding of the licensing process, which encompasses key areas such as governance, financial management, infrastructure, legal compliance, and youth development.
Participants also discussed how professionalized club management can drive long-term sustainability, attract sponsorship, enhance player welfare, and align Kenyan football with international best practices.
FKF reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing capacity building, pledging additional training sessions and technical support to assist clubs in meeting licensing requirements.
This initiative is part of FKF’s broader strategy to elevate standards across Kenyan football and ensure that Premier League clubs are equipped to compete both locally and across the continent.
