Family, friends, and colleagues mourned the death of a National broadcaster Festus Amimo known for his selfless service to the less fortunate and his deep commitment to the faith and mentorship, at St Andrew’s Catholic Church in Jacaranda on Wednesday.
The body of the late Amimo was at the church as people who came to see him off gathered. Amimo was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Catholic Men’s Association and speaker after speaker pointed out that his faith was the center of his personal life and professional work.
His colleagues referred to him as a vigilant and well-organized worker, who was a model for others in the media industry because of his unwavering loyalty to his work. Coming from a very modest background, Amimo managed to be a voice to the people as a national broadcaster, his voice was loud and clear to the Dholuo speaking community and he was very listed by other journalists.
He had an effective voice in the political and community arenas from the news room.Leaders and peers said he was a very reliable and loving guide whose advice was instrumental in the progress of many people’s careers.
Ugenya Member of Parliament David Ochieng who was present at the service advised Kenyans to be careful when using social media. He warned of the danger of posting unverified or insensitive content that could increase the suffering of families that have lost their loved ones.
While reading the family eulogy, Kennedy Amimo, the son of the late Amimo, mentioned some of the good times he had with his father and called him a loving, determined dad whose virtues of love, faith, and hard work had a great influence on his life and the lives of others.
The late Festus Amimo will be buried at his home in Awasi on Friday, December 19, 2025.
