Paris St-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembélé has been crowned men’s player of the year at the FIFA Best Awards.

The 28-year-old, who claimed the Ballon d’Or in September, received the FIFA honour in Qatar on December 16 following a standout 2024–25 campaign in which he helped PSG secure four trophies.

Dembélé, who joined the Paris club from Barcelona in 2023 after spells at Borussia Dortmund and Barça, registered 51 goal contributions in 53 appearances for Luis Enrique’s side last season.

His influence was decisive as PSG lifted the Champions League for the first time in their history.

He beat off competition from Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé to land the prestigious award and attended the ceremony ahead of PSG’s Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo on December 17, 2025.

Covering performances between August 2024 and August 2025, the award is voted on by national team coaches, captains, journalists and fans.

Dembélé’s triumph further cements his reputation as one of the world’s elite players.

Although he endured a slow start to the 2024–25 season, his form surged after being redeployed as a central forward.

Eight of his 35 goals came in the Champions League, including vital strikes against Liverpool and Arsenal in the knockout rounds.

Dembélé claimed the Ballon d’Or in September.

Dembélé now joins a distinguished list of winners such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have claimed the award since its introduction in 2016.

So far this season, he has contributed three goals and three assists for PSG in all competitions.

At international level, he also played a key role in helping France qualify for next summer’s World Cup, where the two-time champions will face Senegal, Norway and one play-off qualifier in the group stage.
