Popular online media personality and content creator Edgar Obare alias Uncle Edgar has publicly dismissed circulating claims that he has sold his digital media platform, BNN, calling the reports “fake news.”

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Uncle Edgar addressed growing concern from fans and followers who had been speculating about the future of BNN. According to him, the rumours had gained traction online, prompting anxiety among loyal supporters of the brand.

“I want to address the concerns of some of you who are worried that we already sold BNN. That is fake news,” he wrote, firmly shutting down the speculation.

Uncle Edgar clarified that while there have been enquiries about BNN, no deal has been finalised. He noted that interest from different parties is not unusual for a fast-growing digital platform and suggested that the rumours may have been exaggerated for attention.

“There have been enquiries, and some celebrities even chased clout with the sale, as expected,” he added, in a remark that appeared to subtly call out public figures who may have fuelled the rumours for engagement.

BNN has grown into a recognisable name in Kenya’s digital entertainment and news space, especially among younger audiences who rely on social media for breaking stories, pop culture updates, and trending conversations. As a result, any suggestion of a change in ownership was bound to spark debate online.

Uncle Edgar reassured supporters that if anything were to change regarding BNN’s ownership or direction, the announcement would come directly from him. “If anything changes, I will make an announcement. We value all your support,” he stated, reinforcing transparency and appreciation for his audience.

The clarification has been welcomed by fans, many of whom took to the comments section to express relief and reaffirm their loyalty to the brand. Others praised Uncle Edgar for addressing the issue head-on rather than letting speculation spiral further.

For now, BNN remains firmly under Uncle Dgar’s leadership, with no confirmed sale on the table.
