The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned members of the Moi University Council to record statements at its Eldoret offices as part of investigations into 11 projects worth Sh2 billion.
According to North Rift Regional Manager Charles Rasugu, the council chairman, Dr. Humphrey K. Njuguna, and member Prof. Clara Samiji Momanyi are expected to appear on November 27, while Charles Obiero from the Ministry of Education and Treasury representative Isaac Memusi are scheduled for November 28.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kosgey, who has already spent over 10 hours at the EACC office addressing the inquiry, assured that the university is cooperating fully and promised further clarifications to the media.
The projects under investigation include the construction of the School of Public Health, Dentistry, and Nursing (Sh726.4 million), Library Phase II at Annex Campus (Sh1.1 billion), and multiple installations and works totaling over Sh352 million.
EACC has emphasized that the findings will guide appropriate actions against those found culpable. Meanwhile, the council, led by Dr. Njuguna, has pledged to resolve the institution’s financial and operational challenges, attributing revenue shortfalls to reduced government capitation and declining student enrollment.
The government has committed Sh3.5 billion in financial aid to address these issues as the university works towards long-term stability.
