The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga today hosted a delegation from Azerbaijan led by the country’s Prosecutor General Aliyev Kamran Bayram and Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev, Azerbaijan Ambassador to Kenya, in a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the two parties engaged in detailed discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in several key areas, including the prosecution of terrorism-related cases, tackling economic crimes, mutual legal assistance, and broader judicial collaboration.

DPP Ingonga emphasized Kenya’s commitment to building strong partnerships with international counterparts to enhance the effectiveness of criminal justice systems and global security efforts.

“Kenya and Azerbaijan share common goals in the fight against transnational crimes. Our collaboration in these areas will boost the efficiency of our prosecutorial work and contribute to global efforts against criminal networks,” Ingonga stated.

The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s visit reflects a growing interest in Kenya’s leadership role in regional and international justice matters as well as lay the groundwork for future agreements and joint efforts between the two nations in promoting the rule of law and advancing diplomatic and economic partnerships.

The visit by Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General comes ahead of the upcoming Heads of Prosecution Authorities Conference in Mombasa.
