Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has explained why she chose to give birth to her twins in the United States of America.

Kihika, who faced backlash for the move, thanked Nakuru residents for standing with her during the strenuous moment.

Owing them an explanation as to why she chose the USA and not a hospital in her county, Kihika started by explaining that by virtue of her being the governor, all county doctors and nurses work under her.

The governor explained that it could have been embarrassing for a Nakuru doctor to help her deliver and then meet her during their meetings; the medic could have looked at her awkwardly.

"All county doctors and nurses work under me. Now, surely, did you want me to be lying on my back as one of those doctors help me deliver? And then when we go for meetings, he looks at me and sees me completely. That is why I went to USA kuficha aibu kidogo," said Kihika.

While urging Nakuru residents to support her, Kihika promised to build a good maternity hospital for them to ensure they also get the same services she got while abroad.
