Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the critical role of Cabinet Committees in fast-tracking the implementation of government programmes and improving service delivery to citizens.

Speaking after chairing a special session of the Cabinet Committee on Finance, Infrastructure, Land and Production, the Deputy President noted that such committees are vital in synchronizing Cabinet business to enhance coordination and accelerate development across sectors.

“Cabinet Committees assist in synchronizing and hastening the discharge of Cabinet business to ensure faster implementation of Government business and service delivery to the people,” said DP Kindiki.

The high-level meeting focused on key policy and legislative proposals aimed at supporting Kenya’s economic recovery, strengthening capital markets, enhancing governance within parastatals, and upholding the rule of law.

Among the Cabinet Secretaries present were Alice Wahome (Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development), John Mbadi (National Treasury and Economic Planning), Davis Chirchir (Roads and Transport), James Opiyo Wandayi (Energy and Petroleum), Dr. Deborah Barasa (Environment, Climate Change and Forestry), Rebecca Miano (Tourism and Wildlife), and Attorney General Dorcas Oduor. The Secretary to the Cabinet, Mercy Wanjau, also attended the session.

The Deputy President emphasized that the proposals discussed will contribute significantly to improving economic resilience, ensuring accountability in public institutions, and promoting inclusive development.

“The Government remains committed to driving reforms that stimulate growth, restore investor confidence, and ensure efficient service delivery to all Kenyans,” he added.

The outcomes of the meeting are expected to inform upcoming Cabinet decisions and guide legislative actions in Parliament.
