Harambee Stars have been knocked out of the 2025 Africa Nations Championship qualifiers after falling to South Sudan, losing 3-1 on aggregate.

The Stars suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat in the first leg at Juba Stadium last Sunday and faced a challenging task in the return leg at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole, Uganda yesterday.

In preparation for the second match, head coach Engin Firat made significant changes to the lineup, dropping 13 players and introducing 11 new faces in hopes of reversing the outcome.

However, the Stars could only manage a 1-1 draw, which was not enough to advance to the final round of qualifiers.

Austin Odhiambo put Kenya ahead in the 10th minute, but South Sudan equalised in the 43rd minute, sealing their progression to the next round.

South Sudan will now face Rwanda in the final qualifier, with the aggregate winner earning a spot in the tournament finals scheduled for February 1-28 next year.

Despite the disappointing exit, Kenya will participate as it is hosting the champions alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
