Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei has shared the details of his phone conversation with his Vietnam counterpart Nguyen Minh Hang over the plight of Kenyan Margaret Nduta.
Nduta is facing execution in Vietnam after being found guilty of drug trafficking. She is scheduled to be hanged today, Sunday, March 16.
In his conversation with Hang, Sing’oei conveyed the anxiety of Kenyans on the impending hanging and requested a postponement of the execution to allow the two countries to find a path to resolve the issue.
Hang informed the PS that the request is being considered.
"I am grateful for Madam Hang’s assurance that our petition is under consideration by her country’s authorities. In the meantime, our mission in Bankok is actively following up the case in situ," said Sing’oei.
