Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has shared the timeline for when the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will open its portal for students applying for university courses in September 2025.

For the past few months, students who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam have been waiting for the portal to open, as they cannot select their university courses without it. However, in a statement released on Thursday, February 28, CS Ogamba confirmed that KUCCPS will open the portal in March 2025, as per the usual schedule.

The CS emphasized that this is in line with the annual placement calendar, which ensures that students can begin the application process for the September 2025 intake. He made this announcement while providing an update on the admission and funding details for the 2024 KCSE candidates.

It’s worth noting that KUCCPS had already opened its portal earlier, on January 24, 2025, for the placement of students into the Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC), Teacher Training Colleges, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, for the March and May 2025 intakes.

The Education Cabinet Secretary typically gives the go-ahead for KUCCPS to open the portal when KCSE results are released, allowing students to begin the placement process.
