Boniface Mwangi was picked up by DCI detectives on Saturday morning at his home in Lukenya, Machakos County, over claims he was involved in planning or supporting terrorist activities during the June 25 anti-government protests.
Detectives who carried out the arrest said they recovered two phones, a laptop, and several notebooks from his house.
Mwangi was then taken to his Mageuzi Hub offices on Rose Avenue in Nairobi, where a second search turned up more items, including nine external hard drives, two more laptops, company seals for Brave Media Ltd and Courage Ltd, a company stamp, six cheque books, and documents related to stamp duty.
Also recovered were two unused tear gas canisters and a single 7.62mm blank round.
Mwangi is spending the weekend in custody at Pangani Police Station, ahead of a court appearance set for Monday, July 21.
He’s expected to face charges linking him to alleged terror-related activities and the unlawful possession of ammunition.
Police have not shared specifics of the case and detailed statement, leaving many questions unanswered
