Chef Bernice Kariku has made history as the first Kenyan to prepare a meal for seven-time Formula 1 world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton.

The milestone moment unfolded ahead of the highly anticipated Silverstone Grand Prix, where Hamilton—now racing for Scuderia Ferrari—was treated to Kariku’s signature Kenyan-inspired cuisine.

Speaking after the private dining session, Chef Kariku expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing it as “an honour not just for me, but for my country and our vibrant culinary heritage.”

The Nairobi-born chef, who has steadily risen through the ranks of Europe’s fine dining circuit, said she crafted a menu blending authentic Kenyan flavors with contemporary global techniques—giving the British racing legend a taste of Africa right before he hit the track.

For Chef Kariku, this moment wasn’t just about food—it was about putting Kenyan talent on the world stage.
