Willy Paul is facing a significant financial setback, losing a staggering 21 million shillings after the cancellation of his highly anticipated Valentine’s Day concert, “Pozze Live.” The concert, which was set to take place at the KICC in Nairobi, was abruptly called off by the police due to unspecified security concerns, leaving the singer and his team devastated.
Eric Omondi, who was part of the concert’s organizing team, took to Instagram to express his frustration and disappointment. He revealed that despite months of rigorous planning and rehearsals, the event was halted without any clear explanation. According to Eric, the police showed up at the venue and stated that they had received orders to cancel the event, though no further details were provided.
Eric also shared that they had requested the deployment of 50 police officers to ensure proper security, but the authorities insisted that the cancellation had nothing to do with security concerns. This left the team confused and disheartened after investing so much time, effort, and money into the project.
“After 3 months of huge investments, rehearsals, and intense preparations, our event has been cancelled without reason,” Eric wrote on his Instagram. “The police arrived at K.I.C.C. and said they had orders to stop the event. The question is, why? We even asked for 50 policemen, and they said it’s not about security.”
The cancellation has hit Willy Paul particularly hard, as he had invested his personal savings into the event, amounting to 21 million shillings. Eric, visibly upset, pointed out that it seemed as though he and other factors were being singled out for the abrupt decision. He ended his post by expressing his disappointment, stating, “Willy Paul invested his life savings on this. Over a million down the drain!!! This is the Kenya we live in. Vijana watawai inuka kweli??? Ipo siku.”
The concert is now moved to a different venue, the Express Way Lounge on Mombasa Road.
