President William Ruto has issued a directive that all university admission letters be revoked and reissued to all respective students.

The head of state said that the information presented in the admission letters is incorrect.

He pointed out that the amount of tuition fee indicated in the admission letters is the cost of the courses provided, not the amount required from the students.

“The letters that you received are misleading and we have instructed new letters to be released indicating the amount of money that a parent is entitled to pay,” said Ruto.

Ruto said that the government has allocated additional funds to facilitate higher learning from KSh 45 billion to KSh 82 billion.

With this, the president emphasised that “no underprivileged person should lack access to affordable education.”

He was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for Bomachoge Chache Affordable Housing Project in Ogembo, Kisii County.

With Affordable Housing being one of the pillars of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformative Agenda, the project will not only provide affordable housing but also create employment.

A total of 244 housing units will be constructed, 100 affordable housing units, 60 market units and 40 social housing units.
