President William Ruto has sent ten names of Cabinet secretary nominees to the National Assembly for vetting.
However, the names were less one, Rebecca Miano, who had been nominated as the Attorney General to replace Justin Muturi after Ruto dissolved the Cabinet.
Miano’s absence from the list presented to parliament on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 23, elicited mixed reactions on social media.
Rumours started circulating that the former Investments, Trade and Industry CS had asked Ruto to withdraw her nomination, asking to be assigned lighter duties.
However, taking to X, Miano flagged the reports as rumours.
“When rumour mills are rolling, the well-advised stay still,” Miano posted on X.
Also, in the communication made by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, the head of state had further made a reshuffle in his initial nominations.
President Ruto reassigned Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee Aden Duale to the Ministry of Environment.
Duale’s Defence Ministry was taken up by Soipan Tuya, who had been assigned the Environment docket.
Taking to X, Tuya thanked Ruto for her nomination promising to give her all upon her confirmation.
“Eternally grateful to God for His favor! I thank HE President @WilliamsRuto for nominating me to serve as Cabinet Secretary Defence. Upon confirmation, I will give it my all, in service to the people of Kenya,” said Tuya.
Other Cabinet secretaries set to be vetted include Kithure Kindiki for Interior and National Administration, Deborah Mulongo Baraza for Health, Alice Wahome for Lands, Julius Ogamba for Education and Andrew Muhia Karanja for Agriculture and Livestock.
Others are Davis Chirchir for Roads and Transport, Margaret Nyambura for Information, Communication and the Digital Economy and Eric Muriithi Muga for Water.
