Omondi to Fly ODM Flag in Ugunja Parliamentary Race

Moses Omondi has been named the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) flagbearer for the upcoming Ugunja Parliamentary by-election, scheduled for November 27, 2025.

Omondi secured the nomination after emerging victorious in the party primaries, garnering 5,329 votes.

He was followed by Joseph Otieno Alur, who received 2,789 votes, while Eng. Fredrick Omondi Owino came in third with 1,336 votes, according to results announced by Returning Officer Felix Ngala.

In his acceptance speech, Omondi thanked his fellow contestants for a fair contest and extended an olive branch, urging them to rally behind his candidacy ahead of the by-election.

“I thank my worthy opponents Joseph Alur and Fredrick Omondi Owino. Now is the time to come together and move forward as one team to secure victory on November 27,” he said.

Omondi brings extensive experience to the race, having served for 13 years as the Ugunja Constituency Manager under former MP and current Energy Cabinet Secretary James Opiyo Wandayi.

If elected, he will become only the second Member of Parliament for Ugunja Constituency.
